Program Donation Options
The Twelfth Step House of San Diego is the non-profit corporation which operates Heartland House and its partner Living Sober home. The Twelfth Step House of San Diego was incorporated in 1960 and is recognized as a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) charitable organization by the IRS.
Like most nonprofits, the program fees we receive from government and individuals receiving services pays for only a portion of expenses. To provide our high-quality, multi-dimensional program, we must raise 12% of our budget through donations and other fundraising.
Donors now have the option to select which program they would like their donation to go toward. Please see the details of each program below. If a designation is not selected, the donation will go into our general fund. Donate by filling out the form below.
Hearts for Heartland House
This program supports our clients during the critical period when they are transitioning between residential treatment and functioning in society. Your recurring monthly donation in any amount will assist residents in need of rent, clothing, and other expenses for 30-60 days while they find employment.
Journey to Wholeness
This program uses Ayurveda as a basis and is tailored for those recovering from substance use disorders. It brings vitality, healing, and wholeness into their lives with tools for achieving the optimal balance of mind, body, spirit, and soul. The program entails spiritual components with, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and 12 step facilitation.
Rides for Recovery
The Rides for Recovery project will provide veterans residing at Heartland House with direct transportation via on-demand ride services through a third party vendor (Lyft, Uber) to address matters key to their recovery: attending medical appointments, seeking employment, reconnecting with family, and addressing outstanding legal issues.
Special Projects
Heartland House often has special projects that are in need of donations. Last year we ran a campaign for funds needed for new storage sheds. Most recently we have requested donations for renovations of our newest facility. As we continue to expand, we will always have a need for donations for special projects.Â
General Donation
Our mission is to serve men recovering from substance use disorder and related co-occurring conditions. Our overall goals are to provide a living environment conducive to continued recovery, conduct an educational program that helps the newly recovering alcoholic/addict establish a long-term support system, and generate attitudes that enhance self-sufficiency, self-worth and an ongoing quality of life.
