On Sunday, August 24th, Heartland House had the great honor of appearing on Vegas Observations, a local Las Vegas Radio show hosted by Bob Fisher, a veteran in the broadcasting community. He hosts guests from Las Vegas and nearby areas to discuss current events and matters in the community.

In light of National Recovery Month, Heartland House was invited to appear alongside Robert Vickrey, Communications Director at Westcare Nevada and Kirk Holmes, a member of the Westcare Community Action Council. Our own Executive Director, Robert Cook and our Chairman of the Board and incoming Medical Director, Mike McDaniel joined the conversation.

SAMHSA’s National Recovery Month aims to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. This year’s theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Strengthen Families and Communities, topics which were discussed on this show.

We discussed the following topics:

1. Addressing stigmas of addiction and societal impact
2. Personal recovery testimonials
3. Paradigm shift in substance disorder treatment
4. Strengthening families

Please tune in to the Archives on the podcast for the entire Episode! Help us spread the word that recovery is possible!
