News from the House June 2024

As we head into summer, the Heartland House team sends our greetings to our friends and supporters. Here’s what’s happening at the House:

First and foremost, a belated Thank You to everyone who attended our 62nd Year Gala on March 23rd. 140 people braved the rains to join us in the Nautilus Room of the Coronado Community Center. Everything was top notch, from the cuisine to the live music to our guest speaker, radio personality Little Tommy Sablan and our Heartland House speakers.

We are delighted to announce that our stellar Medical Director, Dr. Mike McDaniel, is increasing his weekly hours at the House, where he will provide new trainings for our staff and enhanced assessments with case management for our clients. One of our primary goals with Dr. McDaniel is to give us additional insights into treatment strategies for those with co-occurring disorders of substance use and mental disabilities so that we may improve outcomes with this specific population.

On the documentation side, our House team has been busily consolidating our treatment and demographic statistics from the past 4 years. Look for some nice infographics, annotated with our statistic-gathering methodology used, in the near future.

Finally, no June newsletter would be complete without our recognizing AA Founders’ Day, celebrated in honor of the 89th anniversary of the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Have a wonderful summer!.
