Erica Green
Clinical Director/Social Worker
LCSW

Erica Green joined Heartland House in August of 2018 as our Clinical Director and Social Worker. She has been a healthcare professional since 1999 when she started working for drug court, applying the knowledge she gained in her undergraduate studies in Human Services and Criminal Justice to assist inmates and parolees in addressing their substance abuse issues.

From 2002 to 2012, Erica worked for Sharp Healthcare and in psychiatric hospitals while earning a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. During this time she met and was recruited by Heartland House Executive Director Robert Cook. Erica began working part-time at Heartland House facilitating weekly family therapy sessions to fulfill the service requirements of her master’s program.

Eventually, Robert convinced Erica to work at Heartland House full time and serve as a licensed practitioner to administer the newly implemented Drug Medi-Cal Program per the certification requirements of Drug Medi-Cal.

From Erica Green:

“I really enjoy the atmosphere [at Heartland House], collaborative treatment with co-occurring and comprehensive treatment is great. Even in a hospital you usually get placed at mental health OR substance use disorder, but never both. It’s really great being able to do both. I think we have a really great way of looking at and providing treatment and coming up with new strategies to help the client.

Robert is very innovative and has a lot of great ideas. The availability of creativity in treatment is so rewarding. If you come to work here, you can practice your art – coming up with creative collaborative strategies with other treatment professionals on the outside and inside to help the clients.

The environment is really motivational for growth, not just for the client but for the staff. If we grow the staff in effectiveness, that will rub off on the clients and their growth programs. Encouraging the staff with different areas of expertise where they can add to the program, it makes for a stronger plateau where people can actually be successful in their program and stay sober and go do what they want to do with their life.”
